The Taste of Blood

by Jon Athan

WARNING: This novel contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.

After being sexually abused by her nineteen-year-old boyfriend at a party, Genesis Hudson—a thirteen-year-old girl—believes she has become a vampire. Her hunger for human blood intensifies with each passing day. She craves it, she feels sick without it. Aubrey Horne, Genesis’ best friend, knows she is mentally unwell, but she needs time to help her. So, with an abundance of reluctance, she agrees to help Genesis find blood by any means necessary. And while doing so, she discovers a side to Genesis she’s never seen before…

How far can two girls go to find blood? Can Aubrey save Genesis from herself before it’s too late? Or has Genesis really become a vampire?

Jon Athan, the provocative author behind Our Dead Girlfriend and Mason’s Television, brings you a new grotesque coming-of-age horror novel filled with acts of depravity and violence.

BFF’s – Best Friends Forever? Well, one of them sure thinks so! With a little too much emphasis on the Forever.
Too bad she’s 🦇💩 crazy.
But, it’s one Hell of a best friend to go as far as this one went.

This is a really touching story about friendship. Ok, “really touching” to those of us who live on Planet Splatter… everyone else might have to look a little deeper, past the blood and gore, around the bodies, and over by the fridge, hahaha. I feel kind of shitty because there isn’t a chance that I would have put up with half of the mess that Aubrey does, much less go to the extremes she goes to just to try help Genesis – knowing all along that she’s 🦇💩. There were two points that I was hoping that the author would just jump script and take the vampire angle to a place where we could believe the story – that’s how hard I was rooting for the girls.

Of course I recommend it – it’s Jon Athan! Don’t miss it.

HEROIN IN THE MAGIC NOW by Terry M. West

“I gave my life away. And what’s left inside hurts me, most of the time.” ~ Gary Hack

CoverHeroinMagicNow

I learned some important rules about porn from William Tea, and there’s one rule that stands out here –
Rule 34: ‘If it exists, there’s porn of it.’

Gary Hack was a well known, and respected director – at one time.
But, after diving head-first into the world that surrounds the adult film industry, he found that he wasn’t strong enough to break the surface and swim back home.
These days Gary just wades through his existence with opiate-dulled senses, and he lurks among the Night Things with hopeless abandon. His film career now consists of directing underground fetish / exploitation videos. A dark piece of monster porn that he directed has gained the attention of Mr. Johnny Stücke – an entirely new kind of monster. One that inspires fear in the hearts of men, and Night Things.
Johnny Stücke knows that The Night Things are going to start climbing out of the shadows, and they’ll soon be making their way up the financial food chain. When there is money being made, there’s money to be spent… Johnny sees what the future holds for monster porn, so he’s hiring infamous director Gary Hack to create the greatest fringe-fetish video of all time.

HOO-DOO COUNTY HORRORS by Jonathan Moon

‘I made this place and filled it with all these monsters…’

Hoo-Doo County is a fictional high mountain county horror author Jonathan Moon uses often as a setting for his dark and beautiful stories. Containing both new stories and rewritten classics from Mr. Moon this is the first collection of shorts in the series. This set includes the stories The Full Moon Express, Roadside Crosses, Witch Hunt Sunrise, and Parched. Also, includes a small chapter about the stories from Mr. Moon himself.

HooDooCountyHorrors1

I’ve gotten used to visiting fictional towns like Walker’s Woods, and Castle Rock, but I wasn’t prepared to enter Hoo-Doo County. In the synopsis, the author says “I made this place and filled it with all these monsters…”, and I knew it was a place I had to visit.
The four tales in this anthology are The Full Moon Express, Witch Hunt Sunrise, Roadside Crosses, and Parched. Werewolves, witches, ghosts, vampires all lurk in Hoo-Doo County – and they’re waiting for you to come and visit.
As soon as I finished, I immediately dove into Hoo-Doo County Horrors Volume 2, (review to come). I just found out that there is a Volume 3 ready and waiting for me, and I’ve been due for another vacation…

My (eventual) Book

When I do have a book published, whether it’s a collection of my works or the biography of my awesomeness, I’m going to have this on the inside cover of every one. As cool as it would be to have someone use my book to fight off an angry grizzly, koala, or teddy, I can’t be held responsible for someone getting mauled, or cuddled, to death.

CRADLE TO THE COFFIN: THE FABLE OF DRACULA AND LULU By Alan Gandy

CRADLE TO THE COFFIN: THE FABLE OF DRACULA AND LULU
By Alan Gandy
cover-5
Did you ever wonder about Dracula’s childhood? His parents? Do you think you know how he became Vampire, better yet – do you think you know how any Vampire came to be?

The Fable of Dracula & Lulu is a ‘children’s book for adults’, that takes us on the journey of how a sad & lonely little boy became the infamous blood sucker we know today. Alan Gandy has rewritten Dracula’s history, good vs evil, Heaven vs Hell, and even Epic Battles have rules!

It’s greatly written, beautifully illustrated, and includes an afterward from the author that show how much time, effort, and research went into this book.

I really enjoyed this story, and it has me thinking about the childhood lives of other monsters! Was The Creature From The Black Lagoon bullied in school because of the way he looked? Did the Warewolf have to seek therapy because of body issues? What if The Mummy was claustrophobic? Do you think The Invisable Man got lonley?
