UNBOUND by Ash Ericmore

I can easily see Ash Ericmore becoming one of my go-to authors!

My brain sees this, but my mouth says ‘Eric Ashmore

You know how book browsing goes… Pop on Amazon just to window shop… ‘Let’s see what Matt’s up to‘, ‘Maybe Jon surprised us and secretly published one we weren’t expecting‘, ‘Sea has new stuff coming‘, ‘What happened to The Barns Brothers‘, ‘Oh – I gotta check to see if Ash published anything new… OMG, CARNIE – what’s this?! ‘<—- That’s legit, he published a new one before I posted this 😁

Those words make me so happy! No, technically it’s not a new genre, but he is advertising the fact that it’s about to get twisted. [it did!] Ash’s humor is blacker than my mascara, his horror is disgusting, weird, and fresh… I’m hooked.

WARNING: This contains scenes of very bizarre and extremely violent death, along with some of the weirdest scenes of sex you might come across. It’s not really erotic … well … unless you’re into that sort of thing. Best consider this a trigger warning for just about everything.

Will is having one of those days. But not your average one of those days. It started badly and then went downhill with gusto. Now he’s going to summon a demon. You know, to get all murdery. Revenge. What could go wrong, right?

Beginning with some pretty vile acts, Unbound is a novella that only gets worse going forward. If you are of a sensitive nature, then you might want to give this one a miss, yes?

Amazon Product Page

This was fun, sick, and completely unexpected. I’m just in love with Will’s demon, we need to go out for coffee, or shots.
I’m going to be a very sad Shadow when these four five books are finished, and it’s taking every ounce of willpower to not finish them all up in one setting! (I can’t start a new one until the reviews are posted for the one I finished.)

You can find Ash Ericmore and pick up his books: UNBOUND, AGAINST TYPE, CULT, JANE DOE, and CARNIE on Amazon, and review them on Goodreads. I’ll edit in his social media ASAP.

Now, even though getting you to participate is like pulling a victim’s teeth, I still want to try, so, I’ll discuss, you go ahead and jump in when you’re ready – Which one of Ash’s titles do you want to read first? UNBOUND, AGAINST TYPE, CULT, JANE DOE, or CARNIE? Why that one? I’m dying to read AGAINST TYPE. It’s the first one I saw, and the first time I saw those three words string together so perfectly… Extreme Horror Comedy. It sounds like it’s going to be the most fun read of the bunch. I was going to read CULT next, maybe CARNIE. But, no. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow, so why wait! AGAINST TYPE it is! Leave your replies in the comments!

QUESTION FOR THE AUTHOR: Is it hard (see what I did there… I’m fluent in innuendo) to get all your books to end up exactly 69 pages?

This new three week ‘shelter in place’ order is not doing wonders for my mental health, but For The Greater Good and all that, right? Stick around and witness my decent into madness! Until next time, stay safe, sane, and healthy!

Like I said, technically not new, but… Hey, J.A. got a new sub-genre here, so I think Ash deserves this one!

You Should Be Writing!(?)

If we turned the pic right now – what would your paper say?!

It’s almost time to get my cheerleader outfit on! We’re just about mid-way, how’s your NaNoWriMo going?

I’ve done my best to stay off social media, so I’m not seeing everyone’s word counts and goals. I stick my toes in the water a little each day, but I’m not seeing #NaNoWriMo like it used to be. Am I not seeing it, or are you not doing it?

Leave me a comment – are you participating this year?

At the halfway mark – how are your goals?

What am I going to be reading? 😉

Why are you still reading this when YOU SHOULD BE WRITING!?

Celebrating National Metal Day!

Heavy Metal & Horror – A Match Made For Screaming!

Celebrating National Metal Day by watching horror movies is easy. It’s FUN, but the hardest part will be deciding what movie to watch FIRST. If you’re in a state where you’re still strongly encouraged to stay self-isolated, picking up a book and getting lost in a blend of music & madness sounds much more appealing! But – what to read? Here are a few choices…

We’ll be celebrating doubly hard since The Dark Defender & I Joined Forces nine years ago today.

Joined Forces 11/11/11

If you don’t already have THE SCREAM by John Skipp & Craig Spector then this is the book you should pick up and start reading today. It’s HORROR. It’s SPLATTERPUNK. It’s ROCK AND ROLL.

Rock ‘n’ Roll. Hell. Two great tastes that taste great together. Long before Elvis gyrated on the Sullivan Show or the Beatles toiled the smoky red-light bars of Hamburg, music has been sowing the seeds of liberation. Or damnation. With each new generation the edge of rebellion pushed farther. Rhythms quickened. Volume increased. Lyrics coarsened. The rules continued to be broken, until it seemed that there were no rules at all.
And as waves of teens cranked it up and poured it on, parents built walls of accusation to explain their offspring’s seeming corruption. Sex and drugs, demon worship and violence are the effects. Music is the cause. Or so the self-styled guardians of morality would have us believe.
Meet The Scream. Just your average everyday mega-cult band. Their music is otherworldly. Their words are disturbing. Their message is unholy. Their fans are legion. And they’re not kidding. They’re killing. Themselves. Each other. Everyone. Their gospel screams from the lips of babes. Their backbeat has a body count. And their encore is just the warm-up act to madness beyond belief.
It emerged from a war-torn jungle, where insanity was just another word for survival. It arrived in America with an insatiable lust for power and the means to fulfill it. In the amplified roar of arena applause there beats the heart of absolute darkness
.

As your punk rock horror hostess in this event, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show you this ‘battle’ anthology!

• Thirteen Rounds. • Twenty Six Stories. • No Holds Barred.

Grab your guitars, turn the volume to eleven, and launch yourself into a world where heavy music rules over all!

Your teammates we will include 13 of these authors as you battle head to head for the Ultimate Title! David Owain Huges, Michelle Garza and Melissa Lawson – The Sisters of Slaughter, James H. Longmire, Dani Brown, Robert Holy, Andrew Freudenberg, Easel Pratt, Kitty Kane, Sebastian Crow, J.L. Lane, G.H. Finn, Jason Morton, Brian Barr, Michael Noe, Jim Richardson, Seth Moore, R.E. Lyons, Toneye Tyenot, William Bradley, John P. Collins Jr., Lucretia Stanhope, Brian Glossup, K. Trap Jones, Michael Fischer, and Jim Golforth.

I love the vibe happening right now, so the 3rd place tie between THE RITUAL by Adam Neville and SHOCK ROCK edited by Jeff Gelb has just been broken! ROCK AND ROLL IS HERE TO SLAY …

The stars of shock fiction know what metalheads & moralists, punksters & preachers have known all along. Rock and roll. With its hot licks and raw glitter, has a dark side too – where the party stops and the terror begins.

Put on your headphones. Open this electrifying book. Rock to the world of horror where martyred musical super-legends return from the dead at 120 decibels… where radio stations sponsor ghastly giveaways that no living soul could want … where other-earthly pirates bootleg not records, but human souls… where people are strange … and the devil rocks all night.

THE NEW SOUND OF HORROR comes from Stephen King, F. Paul Wilson, David J. Schow, Nancy A. Collins, Ronald Kelly, Don D’Ammassa, Graham Masterton, Paul Dale Anderson, Michael E. Garrett, Brian J. Hodge, R Patrick Gates, Rex Miller, Bill Mumy & Peter David,R Richard Christian Matheson, Michael Newton, Mark Verheiden, Ray Garton, John L. Byrne, Thomas Tessier, and John Shirley.

When I’m Doing Anything –

I’d rather be reading, but I’m probably obsessing over hues, and filters, and fonts – oh my!

I finally chose this because I thought it was close to the pink used here. Just a little less ‘adulty’. But it’s really not. So… Thank you, NEXT…
I started to think the fangs were pigeonholing the genre, so – this happened.
Then I started playing with filters. ‘Oooo..a collage would look sweet!’ And I still didn’t stop – I distressed it and made a book!

So, what did you do this evening? LMAO!

Horror Artist Becky Doyon Has Great #Coronageddon Wear!

OPEN YOUR EYES!

I love a random Horror Art search on Google, but I ran into Becky’s work on LinkdIn. Weird, right? Not as weird as it used to be… I’ve been connecting with a bunch of horror authors and others in the Horror community there. People are becoming more accepting, or horror is more acceptable – IDK, but it’s about time!

Anyway… online, online, online, and I see her ‘Wear A Mask’ piece! OMG, it’s awesome! Check out all four Covid inspired ones. (I posted them a little larger down at the bottom.)

I went to her site to see everything, and she has a store, yay!! These are on shirts 😁🤘 NOTE TO ARTIST: You know what you NEED to be selling Bec – FACEMASKS! I would SO wear a ‘face’ facemask!!

They come on different shirts, tote bags, iPhone covers, and hangable prints for home or work. Oh, dog tags, too! Neat! This isn’t a sales pitch I swear to Dog, I’m just excited. If there was a textbook horror nerd, it would be me! If she sold stickers…

#SupportIndieHorror

You can check out more of of Becky Doyon‘s work on her website, and here’s her Instagram. If you’d like to commission something she’s on LinkdIn. Ok, that was fun for a minute. But, you know what all the sites are for… (not JUST stalking anymore!) Connect via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr.

Desperate times…

Does Jason shit in the woods? I’m sure that if he does, he’s using a rabbit, not Charmin! 😆 (Please forgive me – that was the first dirty joke my dad ever told me. You know… A bear and a rabbit are taking a shit in the woods…)

In case the world needs to know these things… I’m officially ready to see Halloween stuff… Everywhere. So, ok world, if you could get on that…

Mike Ness is a Genius

If you’ve been here for any length of time you already know that I’m still a huge fan of Social D./Mike Ness. And, if you know know me, you’ll know that there hasn’t been one day in the past thirty years that I haven’t been planning for our inevitable Kidnapper/Victim life together.

We (The Dark Defender and myself) had our t-shirts for over a month before we realized – (he found out and told me… can’t leave that out!) – that Mike Ness is actually the big brain behind ‘Social Distancing Skelly‘! Dontcha just love ‘im?! You don’t have to be at my psychotic level of FanGirl to appreciate it.

Social D. Skelly Man Logo
Aren’t these great?! The spoof of the Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell album title is a new shirt.

I wonder how long it will be before he suggests we add masks to our tattoos!! 🤣

So… how’s your quarantine?

Want to watch a horror movie with me?

I just heard about a indie horror movie – THE ISOLATION HORRORS, on the Everything Horror podcast. Here’s the IMDb and Official Teaser Trailer –

What it’s about-

After finding a bloody face mask in the street during an epidemic outbreak, a concerned neighbour calls his home-isolating friends to check on them. Meanwhile the friends are experiencing their own horrors in their homes during lockdown.

“THE ISOLATION HORRORS” is a short film anthology intended for online release, created by London-based filmmakers during home-isolation.

The five short films are made under the rules:

  • Shoot in your place of isolation;
  • Shoot on your phone;
  • Make horror films.

The five filmmakers came up with their own concepts, goals, style and expression under these rules creating five very different horror short films, using few resources and limited technical gear available, inspired by the lockdown, and strung together by producer Nicolai Kornum.

So, like I said… want to watch a horror movie with me? Sorry we can’t NETFLIX & CHILL, but we can YOUTUBE AND BLOG! (I wish I would have set up the chat here, it would have been like the good ol’ days back at Zombie Fiend!)

I’m going to wait a little bit, then watch it here. Want to join me? It’s only about 25 minutes long, and looks pretty cool. We can text in the comments maybe? Idk how it will work out, but if you’d like to stare at a screen at the same time as me – meet me back here at say… 5:00ish (in about an hour and a half ). We might not even be able to communicate, but we’ll never know if we don’t try sometime! If I don’t see you then, then I’ll see you later. Until then, stay safe, and stay scary – not scared!

Peace, Love & Necrophilia 💋
